My-Shopping-Channel.Com Displays 850,000 Products from 200 UK High Street Stores in a Little Window in the Corner of your Screen.

A new way to shop comes to the UK’s 36 million Internet users this week. Unlike traditional Internet shopping, shoppers using My-Shopping-Channel.com continue other activities on their computer, while products from leading high street brands like Boots, M&S and Currys display one by one in the corner of their screen. No mouse clicks are needed until they spot something they want to buy, and with 850,000 products on display, soon increasing to 2 million, shoppers can keep an eye out for bargains they would never spot in the shops or while browsing the web.

Milton Keynes, UK (PRWeb UK) June 26, 2009 — Retail therapy just got more accessible with products from hundreds of trusted high street stores going by in the corner of your computer screen. My-Shopping-Channel.com shows products from favourites like Marks and Spencer, Boots, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Comet, Currys, Dixons, PC World, Ernest Jones, F.Hinds, Reebok, B & Q and many more in a small window tucked out of the way in the corner of the screen, while computer users keep doing whatever they want or need to at their PCs. When they spot something they want, they click on it and get straight through to the buying page for that item on the retailer’s web site.

My-Shopping-Channel.com launches this week with pictures, prices and descriptions of over 850,000 products, giving people the chance to keep an eye out for bargains and must have items while they continue their normal computer-based activities, such as doing their email, working out their accounts or using Facebook. There is no sign-up required, and the service is free of charge.

“The focus is really on offering an unbelievable selection of products and showing them automatically, one by one, without the shopper having to do anything until they see something they want,” said Mark Baker, CEO of My-Shopping-Channel.com. “It’s like a trip to the world’s biggest shopping mall without leaving your seat. You’d walk past things and only stop for things that grabbed your interest. With My-Shopping-Channel.com the computer walks through the mall for you while you carry on with what you want to do, and when something you fancy grabs your attention you just click on it to bring up its buying page.”

While a normal retail store has only a few thousand products, which would take hours of searching and clicking to view in a normal online store, shopaholics and busy computer users can now have an unending stream of frequently updated products going by in the corners of their eyes whenever they are at or near their computers, many they’d never get to see if they spent their entire life in a shopping mall.

Founder Beth Hawthorne started My-Shopping-Channel.com with working women in mind as a group that would benefit most from the new way of shopping. “Many women have a shopping instinct left over from the prehistoric hunter-gatherer societies,” she explained, “but the combination of work and traditional female duties such as bringing up children leaves little time for walking round the shops. Research on shopping habits on EBay and Amazon suggests that while men prefer to search for specific items they have in mind, most women like to see what’s there and choose from what they see. It’s equivalent to the men hunting and the women gathering. Now busy working women can keep an eye on their screens in their lunch breaks every day and click on anything that takes their fancy.”
