(PRWeb UK) July 25, 2010

Leading property website Zoopla.co.uk has today launched the UK’s most comprehensive iPhone app for property consumers. The Zoopla iPhone app has been designed as the ultimate resource for the residential property market allowing users to view available property listings as well as sold price data, current value estimates and other local market information.

As a first for the UK property market, the Zoopla.co.uk app makes use of Augmented Reality technology, displaying images of any property along with any relevant information such as the current asking price or current value estimate via the camera view.

With almost half a million properties listed for sale or rent, over 15 million sold house prices displayed and instant value estimates on each of the 27 million homes in the country, the new Zoopla.co.uk iPhone app is being welcomed by property addicts and nosey neighbours alike.

This new mobile app is likely to prove an essential tool for house hunters on the move as an extension of the enormously popular Zoopla.co.uk website. By combining free, instant value estimates for every UK home with sold prices, local market information and hundreds of thousands of properties available for sale and to rent, the app will be a very useful destination for property consumers to both search for property and do their market research.

Key features of the Zoopla.co.uk iPhone app include:

Free, instant value estimates for all 27 million UK homes

Over 15 million house prices paid dating back to 1995

Local market data including average home values by area

Search results by geography, price, keywords and more

Hundreds of thousands of properties for sale and to rent

Map-led search as well as list view and Augmented Reality*

Ability to save and email friends your favourite properties

One touch click to call or email estate agents instantly

*Available with iPhone 3GS or 4 only

Alex Chesterman, Founder and CEO of Zoopla.co.uk said, “Much like the Zoopla.co.uk website, our iPhone app provides consumers with the information they need to make better-informed property decisions. As well as listing properties for sale or to rent, we provide useful information to help users make sense of the residential property market. And now our services will be easily and readily accessible whilst ‘on location’ via the new mobile app.”

Download the Zoopla.co.uk app FREE from the iTunes store today from

(TELEGRAPH) - The mobile phone has had more impact on daily life than any other object of the past decade. It’s changed how and where most Britons communicate, spawned a global industry in hardware and software – and because it’s killed the phone box, it’s even changed our landscapes, too.

Changes in mobile technology also mean that there’s never an excuse for not knowing your train was cancelled, that the idea of being out of email contact is increasingly implausible, and that taking pictures of any event, good or bad, is just a matter of grabbing your phone.

But while the possibilities are endless, the market is crowded. Touchscreens, pioneered by Apple and its iPhone, are rapidly starting to dominate the top of the market, but many users stick doggedly to handsets with physical keyboards. The global sales of “feature phones”, with traditional dialling keypads and more limited features, remain strong because they’re now so inexpensive.

As the market has begun to mature, too, there are now emerging trends for ultra-luxury mobile phones made by companies such as Vertu, with extraordinary standards of handmade craftsmanship genuinely akin to that of expensive watches. And fashion is playing an increasing role in the design of handsets as objects of aspiration.

If you’re setting out to buy or upgrade a mobile phone, however, there are three crucial questions to consider: what do you want to do with it, how much do you want to pay and which network do you want to be on?

Kent business communications experts Keypoint Communications have made rapid strides in the cheap business calls market recently. They started off well last year when they introduced a price tariff that revealed the dishonesty traditionally prevalent in the market, and have been going through magnitudes of strength in recent months as customers fed up with punishing hidden costs switch to the fairer Keypoint system. Now, Keypoint are poised to up the ante with a VoIP phone system that brings an almost unlimited world of user capability to any user.

(PRWeb UK) July 16, 2010

A lot of small businesses only really need call forwarding and caller ID to make the functionality of their business phone systems come up to spec. Where the business phone system market had previously failed them was in its inability to provide such simple services without forcing the customer in question to pay massive premiums for packages they didn’t really want – packages that contained the call forwarding and caller ID capabilities they needed.

Aside from the obvious price disadvantage, small companies forced to buy these packages were then faced with a daunting array of functions they didn’t understand or want: which, like anything, went wrong on a regular basis and brought the whole system to its knees. Another unwanted expense, getting an engineer out to fix the problem. Keypoint started offering pay per item business phone systems in tandem with its cheap business calls. Which meant companies could suddenly buy just call forwarding and caller ID, without worrying about the cost or complications of a package containing a raft of other stuff.

Now, the VoIP phone system technology is enabling Keypoint to go one further. With a VoIP phone system, a company can expand the functionality of its business phone system way beyond simple caller ID and call forwarding – to include things like voice dictated emails; conference calls; free international calls; unlimited extensions: plus a ton of other functions that make almost every aspect of business communications easier. A VoIP phone system works through the Internet, which means it uses Net-based software to upgrade an existing business phone system to do any and everything listed above. That means no new kit, which means no expensive add ons. Indeed, with Keypoint’s VoIP phone system, a customer simply pays for a single item, has it installed and then watches in amazement as their annual communications bill starts shedding thousands.

It’s no longer the case, then, that a small business needs to look just to get caller ID and call forwarding, end up bound by a horribly expensive package and lose a barrel load of money every year on unnecessary comms costs. Rather, a small business can run to Keypoint, champions of the honest business communications package, and end up with a single, extremely cheap option that gives enough functionality to last through an almost endless expansion. Keypoint are making cheap business calls a reality not just for the present, but for the future.

Keypoint Communications, and its child company Cheap Business Calls, supply itemised phone billing and priced-per-item phone systems to UK business.

Topups247 is sending out good news to all customers of the Orange top up, O2 top up, T mobile top up and 3 top up this week: they can perform all of their phone credit top ups online. The innovative top up voucher provider has introduced an excellent Internet service, which has been growing in popularity in recent months as customers from all the major phone brands realise that they can send money and receive credit in private, without having to worry about card security or store opening hours.

(PRWeb UK) July 12, 2010

The problem with making an Orange top up, O2 top up, T mobile top up or 3 top up has always been twofold: reliability, and accessibility. The reliability of a mobile top up from any one of the leading brands is called into question every time a robot voice on the other end of the ‘phone demands that a user repeat what he or she has just said – the “I’m sorry, I didn’t hear that” recorded message that means the whole process is going to have to start over again.

The accessibility of an Orange top up, or a T Mobile top up (yes, and an O2 top up, or a 3 top up, or a physical in store top up with any of the main brands) is equally questionable. If, for example, a customer works hours that prevent him or her from getting to a store while it is open, they are going to find it very difficult to put credit on their phone.

This, then, is where Topups247 is making a change for the better: in the catchall area of “convenience”, which is what mobile telephones were supposed to be about in the first place. Try telling that to someone who has just spent three hours trying to make an Orange top up, while the automated woman-voice on the other end harps on about not being able to understand what he or she the customer) is saying: a Sisyphus-like ordeal that invariably ends up with eighteen separate top up requests suddenly charging the poor fellow (or fellow-ess)’s bank account all at once. Topups247, thank God, has realised what madness that way lies, and is finally offering long-suffering beaters of heads against the brick wall of phone-base top ups an alternative.

It’s so simple it’s a miracle it’s taken this long for people to start doing it. On the Topups247 site, making an O2 top up, a 3 top up, a T Mobile top up or an Orange top up takes minutes, the first time, and seconds the next. A customer simply registers, inputs his or her details, finds the service brand they use, and requests a top up. A few minutes later, a top up voucher is texted to the handset in question and presto! – all done. Why it couldn’t have been that way years ago is a mystery.

Topups247 is a secure mobile top ups website that send SMS top-up vouchers for all main mobile networks straight to a customer’s phone.

(BUSINESS MIRROR) - HTC has become one of the most prolific Android handset manufacturers today, and has consistently pushed what the platform is capable of with each release. Its newest creation, the HTC Desire, is truly deserving of its namesake and is a perfect example of what other manufacturers should aspire to when it comes to smart phones.

The Desire has been likened to the Google Nexus One and it’s not hard to see why. Both are manufactured by HTC, share the same 3.7-inch, 480×800 pixel AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1GHz processor and possess the same version of the Android OS-2.1 Éclair. The differences stop there, though, as the HTC Desire possesses hard keys instead of touch-sensitive ones found on the Nexus One. Additionally, the Desire is equipped with an optical trackpad which theoretically should last longer than the mechanical ball in the Nexus One.

HTC’s trademark lower chin makes an appearance on the Desire, although it’s a lot more subdued and almost imperceptible this time around. The build quality of the Desire is topnotch, and there are no creaks or bends anywhere on the body. The AMOLED display is breathtakingly bright, although it’s no match against direct sunlight.

What continues to set the Desire and all other HTC-made Android devices is the Sense UI built over the Android interface. Aside from adding additional homescreens, the Sense UI also allows users to see instant updates to their friends’ Twitter, Plurk, Facebook and Flickr via the FriendStream widget. The interface also gives users access to additional HTC widgets, aside from the ones already offered by Android.

Powwownow launches a first of its kind iPhone App for mobile conferencing, addressing the biggest challenge for mobile conference participants – easily joining a call. Better yet, it’s absolutely free.

(PRWeb UK) July 7, 2010

With phone and web conferencing being two of the most-used business services every single day, many business users have flocked to free conferencing to save money, but often at the expense of professionalism and quality service. With Powwownow, businesses can save on conferencing costs and still receive a professional service, excellent customer support and value-added features – such as free recording, desktop sharing and even the ability to choose your own hold music. In addition, with Powwownow’s new iPhone application, mobile workers can join scheduled conference calls with the simple touch of a button – no more toggling back and forth from a calendar invitation or email to get the number and access code then back to the keypad to enter it. One button and you’re in.

“Based on customer feedback, we know there’s huge demand for a conference call app that allows you to join conferences at the touch of one button “ commented Andrew Pearce, CEO of Powwownow. “We’re not just about audio conferencing, we’re about helping our customers be more successful. We don’t believe consumers should sacrifice quality for cost. Free doesn’t mean cheap!”

The Powwownow iPhone App does more than any other mobile conferencing app available, including:

Create and Edit Conferences - Set up new conference calls and invite participants from your contact lists with automatic email invitations. Also, edit your scheduled conferences and view details of conferences you’ve been invited to join.

Connect to Conference Calls - Join scheduled conference calls with the simple touch of a button or even join calls manually with ease if you have not received an invitation through the Scheduler App. Also, Powwownow will automatically connect mobile users with the best local dial-in number – avoiding international calling issues and unexpected fees.

Manage Settings - Manage and update your account details instantly and add additional conference accounts as needed.

The Powwownow iPhone App is available for download in the iPhone App Store or on iTunes or on the Powwownow site. For more information about how you can Powwownow, quickly and easily, please visit www.powwownow.co.uk

About Powwownow

(THE REGISTER) - Comment Apple released a surreal missive on Friday morning that said the only thing wrong with the iPhone 4 is the way it calculates signal-strength bars. That letter is either an honest explanation or total bullshit — and it’s high time that a competent, unbiased antenna-engineering team found out.

On the face of it, Apple’s letter — which The Reg reported on earlier today — appears ludicrous in the extreme. Like an alcoholic in deep denial, Apple says that it’s not their fault, it’s the bars’.

There has been a firestorm of complaints about the iPhone 4’s reception problems — hop on over to Cupertino’s own discussion forums, for example, and check out recent pitchforks-and-torches outcries such as the real reason for bad reception PART 2! and Apple says iPhone 4 calculates bars wrong. And while you’re there, dip into 3G data speed on iPhone 4 is painfully slow. But hurry — on Friday morning there was an active thread called Apple’s Statement and Software Fix, but it has since been blocked.

While many posters note that their iPhone 4’s reception is quite acceptable, thankyouverymuch, a good percentage say that reception quality has dropped noticeably below what they experienced with previous-generation iPhones.

Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of two new competitions on the Sony Ericsson Facebook page, offering fans of the page the opportunity to win specific prizes.

London, UK (PRWEB) July 2, 2010 — Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of two new competitions on the Sony Ericsson Facebook page, offering fans of the page the opportunity to win specific prizes.

Fans of Sony Ericsson’s social media pages now have the opportunity to win either a brand new Xperia™ X10 phone, or an Official FIFA World Cup replica football. The competitions, which are running simultaneously are expected to result in a high number of entries for both competitions, given the topicality and interest in the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and the desirability of the Xperia™ X10 range of handsets.

The two competitions are the latest in a line of highly successful fan competitions run on the Sony Ericsson Facebook page following hot on the heels of South African Wave competition, which encouraged contestants to submit videos of themselves waving, with a range of FIFA World Cup-related prizes.

Entry figures to all competitions run to date have been high and is further evidence of the strong relationship social media channels has allowed Sony Ericsson to build with its fans and for fans to engage with the brand.

Ben Padley, Head of Digital and CRM for Sony Ericsson, said: “Sony Ericsson’s continued involvement with fans through social media allows the brand to constantly stay in touch with its consumers. Continued communication with fans, through the likes of social media competitions, is more rewarding for fans in the long run, helping to maintain the users’ interest in both the social media pages and the brand, whilst also keeping users up-to-date with recent Sony Ericsson news, as can be seen on the Sony Ericsson Twitter page.”

Sony Ericsson creates innovative, sophisticated and inspirational phones and accessories, designed with each individual’s fun and entertainment in mind. Sony Ericsson seeks to help each user see things differently, to be at the centre of countless everyday moments and make them extraordinary, and to create an inspiring friend for everyone so that they can find beauty in the unexpected.

For more information, please visit www.sonyericsson.com, or alternatively, engage with Sony Ericsson through any of the following social networks:

(COMPUTERWORLD) - The iPhone is the most successful smartphone ever. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said recently that the company has sold more than 50 million of them — and that was before the iPhone 4 shipped.

Because of that popularity, perhaps, some companies feel it’s acceptable to reach into your wallet, take your money and provide absolutely nothing in return.

Using an iPhone is like taking a holiday to some corrupt country: It may be beautiful and offer simple pleasures, but you’re going to pay bribes to people who shamelessly charge you for what’s free elsewhere.

Sure, nearly all cell phone users get charged something for nothing. For example, many carriers charge extra for text messaging, even though SMS messages don’t cost them anything to provide. And some carriers charge that pointless 15-second recorded set of instructions before every voicemail against your minutes.

But nobody gets ripped off like iPhone users get ripped off. Here are five specific cases where companies charge iPhone users real money, but in return offer nothing.
