(IT PRO PORTAL) - The Asus EEE 1201N is set to debut in UK for around £400 and will come with a number of notable features including a dual core processor and the first Nvidia ION graphics subsystem to appear on an Asus netbook.
The netbook will come with an Intel Atom 330, a processor that runs at 1.6GHz with 1MB L2 Cache and which first appeared in September 2008. In other words, a fairly old processor from the Diamondville family.
It also packs a whopping 2GB RAM (plus an optional 1GB on top) plus a 12.1-inch LCD display that can show 1366×768 pixels, earning it the “HD Ready” logo. Expect the 1201N to benefit fully from the latest Adobe Flash player update which allows the bulk of the processing tasks to be offloaded to the GPU.
There’s also a 250GB hard disk drive, a HDMI port, a 6-cell battery, three USB ports, WiFi, a webcam and that Nvidia ION subsystem that’s the cherry on the cake. Asus reckons that the netbook - which weighs a hefty 3.2 pounds - will last a good four hours under normal usage.
